Университет Кундинамарки внедряет УФ-технологию для улучшения качества молока в Убате
In a significant move towards enhancing the quality of raw milk production and promoting sustainable dairy industry development in Colombia, researchers from the Ubaté branch of the University of Cundinamarca have designed a prototype that utilizes ultraviolet radiation to reduce microbial load immediately post-milking. Led by Fredy Alexánder Baqueo and Iván Olimpo Velásquez Parra, the project aims at providing a technological solution to improve the dairy supply chain in Ubaté Province.
The initiative seeks to replace traditional chemical methods, which can alter milk quality and pose health risks, with a technique that minimizes pathogen proliferation without compromising essential nutrients like vitamins A and D. This innovation is positioned to lower energy consumption by reducing thermal processing needs, thereby decreasing the carbon footprint of the industry.
As the project progresses into its prototype design phase and prepares for initial experimental trials slated for June, it promises to serve as a transformative model for cleaner and more environmentally friendly dairy production.
