Rabobank Projects Record Milk Output Amid Rising Inflation Concerns
Rabobank, a specialist in rural lending, has forecasted that the 2025-26 dairy season is on track to become the largest in terms of milk output on record. The season, which ends on May 31, is expected to surpass previous production levels, according to the bank's projections.
Looking ahead, Rabobank predicts that the 2026-27 season will continue to see strong farmgate milk prices. Despite this optimistic outlook, the bank warns that increasing inflation could tighten profit margins for farmers. This economic pressure may present challenges for those in the dairy industry as they navigate rising costs.
The bank's analysis highlights a dual dynamic: while production levels and prices may be favorable, the economic environment poses potential risks to profitability. This underscores the importance of strategic planning for dairy farmers as they prepare for the upcoming seasons.
