Georgia Increases Milk Imports from Russia Fivefold, Reaching Historical Peak
Milk imports from Russia to Georgia in February 2026 showed a sharp increase, reaching record levels in the history of observations. The purchase volume amounted to $664.7 thousand, which is almost five times the figure for the same period in 2025 ($132.4 thousand).
Amid the growth in supplies, Russia maintained its status as the largest exporter of dairy products to Georgia:
- Russia's share — 33.7% of total milk imports
Thus, Russian suppliers continue to strengthen their positions in the market, holding the lead for the second consecutive month.
The import structure also includes key competitors:
- Poland — 17.5%
- Azerbaijan — 14.8%
- France — 11.9%
- Belarus — 10.9%
Despite the diversification of suppliers, it is Russia that demonstrates the most aggressive growth dynamics.
The February figure became:
- the highest since the beginning of available statistics (since 2009)
This indicates a significant shift in the supply balance and an increased dependence of the market on external sources.
