Milk Prices in Europe Fall 0.7% in August but Remain High

The average standard milk price in Europe for August 2025 was recorded at 49.83 €/100 kg, according to EDF–ZuivelNL International Milk Price Comparison. This marks a decline of 0.7% compared to the previous month, yet remains 7.5% higher than in August 2024.

The mild downturn was primarily due to price reductions in Ireland and the United Kingdom. In Ireland, Dairygold reduced its price by 3.02 €, Tirlan by 2.35 €, and Kerry Agribusiness by 1.51 €. In the UK, Saputo Dairy also made a slight adjustment of –0.03 €, influenced by the depreciation of the pound against the euro.

Conversely, many markets in the rest of Europe showed stability or slight increases. Arla Foods in Denmark reported a rise of 0.03 €, Savencia in France 0.08 €, and Sodiaal in France 1.46 €. In Spain, Capsa Food increased its price by 2.06 €, supported by new bonuses related to animal welfare.

Countries with firmer prices included those in northern Europe, with FrieslandCampina in the Netherlands leading at 54.26 €/100 kg, DMK in Germany at 55.57 €/100 kg, and Arla Foods maintaining 53.66 €/100 kg. In contrast, Dairygold and Tirlan remained below 46 €/100 kg, indicating a significant gap between the highest and lowest pricing regions.

In Spain, the average price reached 50.47 €/100 kg, positioning it competitively within the European context. Furthermore, the gap between the Spanish average and the continental average has been narrowing over the months, indicating a trend towards convergence of prices among producing countries.
