First Labor Lawsuit Filed Over SanCor Layoffs in Sunchales
Legal Proceedings Commence
On the morning of Friday, a legal complaint was submitted to one of the labor courts in Rafaela. The complaint was filed by an employee who had been recently dismissed by SanCor Cooperativas Unidas Limitada at the end of January.
Company's Financial Struggles
SanCor, which is amidst severe financial difficulties, had entered bankruptcy protection earlier in February. Prior to this, the company had laid off approximately 350 workers across its plants located in the provinces of Santa Fe and Córdoba.
Details of the Legal Action
While specifics of the legal filing remain undisclosed, SanCor allegedly cited "force majeure" as the reason for the dismissals, leading to decreased severance payments. Affected employees contest this reasoning, which they find disputable given the numerous issues that contributed to SanCor's operational collapse.
Consequences and Future Implications
It is anticipated that this legal filing will be just the first among many claims that will besiege the labor courts in Rafaela, as laid-off workers seek remedies for their grievances.
