Global Dairy Trade Auction Sees Slight Price Index Drop

The 405th Global Dairy Trade (GDT) auction, held on June 2, 2026, ended with a minor decline of 0.6% in the general price index. Despite this drop, the average winning price stood at USD 4,021 per metric ton, reflecting the continued strength in the international dairy market.

The auction saw active participation, with 147 bidders and 97 buyers securing products through 16 bidding rounds over two hours and 36 minutes. This level of engagement indicates sustained competition for available volumes and a dynamic commercial environment.

The supply at the auction ranged from a minimum of 13,601 metric tons to a maximum of 17,661 metric tons, with a total of 14,364 metric tons sold. This demonstrates the market’s capacity to absorb significant quantities without causing drastic price fluctuations.

Although the index experienced a slight negative correction, the results highlight the ongoing stability in the international dairy sector. For exporting countries, these values remain positive benchmarks amid concerns about competitiveness, production costs, and global demand trends.

Future GDT events will be closely monitored by the global dairy industry to determine if the 0.6% decrease is a technical adjustment or signals a deeper correction in international prices. Presently, data suggests it is more likely a minor adjustment.
