Colombia's cattle export sector has experienced a notable surge in the opening months of 2025, reaching a total of USD 94 million in exports during January and February.

According to data by DANE and analysis by the Colombian Federation of Cattle Ranchers (Fedegan), 60,275 head of live animals were sold internationally, valuing USD 43.6 million.

China emerged as the primary meat export destination with 2,601 tonnes valued at USD 12 million, followed by Algeria with 1,948 tonnes amounting to USD 10.5 million, and Russia with 2,343 tonnes totaling USD 9.7 million.

These exports included meat, viscera, dairy products, and live animals, marking the best early-year performance in five years.

Fedegan’s executive president, José Félix Lafaurie Rivera, attributed this success to coordinated efforts across the sector and expressed optimism regarding opening new markets for Colombia’s natural and sustainable products in forthcoming months.
