University of Florida Researchers Test Innovative Feed for Methane Reduction
The University of Florida has reported that their researchers are experimenting with a novel cattle feed that could dramatically cut down on methane emissions from dairy cows by efficiently utilizing nutrients.

Led by Antonio Faciola, the research involved experimenting with supplemental feeds made from flaxseed and pea protein, and results have been published in the Journal of Dairy Science. This groundbreaking research focused on minimizing energy losses during digestion and maximizing energy use for milk and meat production. "It’s a win-win situation.

Every time we reduce methane, we keep that energy in the cow’s body," explained lead researcher Antonio Faciola. Not only does this supplement have the potential to mitigate methane emissions, but it also increases energy availability for cows, potentially boosting milk production.
