UK Dairy Exporters Eye Opportunities in Singapore

UK agri-exporters are setting their sights on Singapore's evolving dietary landscape, which shows an increasing appetite for dairy products. This shift is largely driven by the westernization of food culture and heightened health awareness, as highlighted by recent research from the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB).
In 2024, UK dairy exports to Singapore rose to £8.3 million, marking a 2.9% increase from the previous year. The demand is notably high for processed dairy, seen as a symbol of modernity and affluence. UK cheese exports specifically reached £2.9 million, with cheddar accounting for £1.2 million.
To leverage this growth trend, AHDB's international dairy trade team, alongside five UK dairy exporters, are actively participating in the FHA-Food & Beverage show in Singapore. A networking event at the Asian Civilisations Museum is also part of their strategy to forge connections with importers and distributors.
Rachael Speed, a senior international trade manager at AHDB, described Singapore as a 'developed, affluent market' ripe with opportunity. The country’s status as a traveler hub further enhances its value as a market for UK dairy products.
The demand from high-income countries, despite global economic challenges, has been significant for UK dairy exports, driving them to a valuation of £1.8 billion in 2024. AHDB’s regional representative, Karen Liao, notes the FHA-Food & Beverage show as a crucial opportunity for engaging buyers from neighboring countries like Thailand and the Philippines, emphasizing the recognition of British dairy’s premium quality in the region.
Looking ahead, AHDB and UK exporters are committed to broadening their reach and ensuring British dairy continues to make inroads into Singapore and beyond.
