UK Organic Dairy Sector Drives Market Growth with Increased Sales
The UK's organic food and drink sector has seen a resurgence, achieving growth in both sales volume and value over the past year. In 2025, the market recorded a 4.2% increase, bringing total sales to £3.9 billion. This marks the fourteenth consecutive year of growth for the sector.
Dairy products have been a substantial contributor to this upward trend, representing 27% of the organic market. The dairy segment experienced a 5.3% rise in volumes compared to the previous year. This growth underscores the increasing consumer demand for organic dairy options.
In addition to dairy, fresh produce, which makes up approximately one-third of organic sales by volume, saw a 2.3% increase. Meanwhile, meat, fish, and poultry categories, despite accounting for only 2.6% of the total organic market, grew by 2.9% in volume.
The sustained growth of the organic sector is supported by initiatives such as the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) 2026, which aims to promote environmentally friendly farming practices.
The consistent expansion of the organic market highlights a growing consumer preference for organic products, driven by factors such as health consciousness and environmental considerations.
