Thirteen Cows Reach 100,000 Liters of Milk Production in the Netherlands

The Van der Eijk family, renowned dairy farmers, are celebrating a significant milestone as thirteen of their cows have reached a lifetime production of 100,000 liters of milk. The achievement comes over a decade after the family moved their operations fr om Bollenstreek to Flevopolder in the Netherlands.

In 1979, Pieter van der Eijk joined his father at the family farm, wh ere they initially milked 170 cows. Over the years, Pieter took over the business and focused on maintaining a high standard of animal care and milk production. The success of the farm has been attributed to careful genetic selection and meticulous management.

In 2013, the Van der Eijks constructed a modern barn in Flevopolder with ample light and space for the animals. This included installing three Lely A3 milking robots and a feeding kitchen designed to optimize cow comfort and productivity.

The farm currently hosts 155 cows, with an average lifetime milk production of 64,500 liters. The cows are fed a balanced diet, facilitated by automated systems, which has contributed to the increase in milk output.

Pieter remains actively involved in the farm's operations alongside his wife and children, who are expected to continue the family legacy.
