According to Tetra Pak, this innovative stainless steel reduces the carbon footprint by up to 93% compared to the global industry average, marking a substantial stride in sustainability within the food and beverage manufacturing sector.
Starting in June, this eco-friendly option will be available for all Tetra Pak homogenizer models in Europe, with a global rollout planned later in the year. The use of Circle Green stainless steel not only enhances the environmental credentials of Tetra Pak's offerings but also provides customers with an effective solution to cut down their Scope 3 emissions. These emissions are often the most difficult to manage in the pursuit of net-zero goals.
The company estimates that depending on the model, incorporating Circle Green stainless steel can reduce CO₂ emissions by between 160kg to 1370kg per machine. This initiative is part of a broader collaboration with Outokumpu, aimed at exploring further applications of this sustainable material across Tetra Pak’s equipment portfolio.
Fiona Liebehenz, Vice President of Key Components Plant Solutions and Channel Management at Tetra Pak, emphasized the alignment of this innovation with the company’s core values: "Innovation sits at the heart of our philosophy as a business and our approach to sustainability. The incorporation of Circle Green into our product portfolio is an important step in leveraging the latest innovations to improve our upstream emissions, whilst also helping to reduce emissions at customer sites. Working together to help both Tetra Pak and our customers to reach our individual sustainability goals is fundamental to our promise to protect what’s good."
