The meeting took place on 5 November at Campden BRI, where SDT also introduced an app. Founded in 1943, the society had reached its 67th president with Pinches. He highlighted its continuing role in sharing information and expertise across the dairy industry and reaffirmed its commitment to providing value for members.

Dr Michael Mullen, who edits the International Journal of Dairy Technology, is due to retire by March 2027. Participants thanked him for his contribution to the publication, which will mark its 80th anniversary next year.

The society is also releasing a technical volume edited by Nick Edwards, titled “Dairy Process Hygiene for the Professional”.

SDT has introduced a podcast available on Spotify. For the opening episode, its executive director, Dr Millie Preece, interviewed Hay and Pinches, bringing together the incoming president and his immediate predecessor.

During the podcast, Pinches described the society’s activities, including meetings and events organised regionally. He also discussed the idea of offering courses through SDT to share knowledge about cheesemaking.
