Silent Dairy Farm Event Supports Children with Disabilities in County Armagh
A farmer from County Armagh, John Faloon, is organizing a distinctive event called the 'Silent Dairy Farm and Machinery Show' to benefit Lisanally Special School. Scheduled for Sunday, August 16, the event will take place on the farm of Faloon's father-in-law, Stanley Livingstone. The show is designed to offer a sensory-friendly environment for children and adults with disabilities, inspired by a similar sensory car show attended by Faloon's non-verbal autistic son, Josh.
The event will provide visitors with the opportunity to experience a working dairy farm in a tranquil setting. Although the milking parlour will not be in use to minimize noise, three robots will demonstrate the milking process. Visitors will also see various tractors and machinery in the expansive yard and indoor shed, accommodating up to 40 people per hour to prevent large crowds.
Diverse Minds Events is collaborating with Faloon to manage the event and will feature games, a quiet area, and a sensory experience room. Refreshments, including tea, coffee, ice-cream, and buns, will be available for attendees.
WS Livingstone and Sons, known for organizing a record-breaking post-Christmas tractor event in Armagh, along with John Faloon's employer, Caledon Estate Company, are sponsoring the event. The farm is located at 14 Wilsontown Road and will open from 10 am to 4 pm, with a £5 entry fee per person, while children under four can enter for free.
All proceeds from the event will go to Lisanally Special School, supporting its developmental work and resources for children like Josh. John Faloon emphasized the importance of reaching out to families who typically avoid large events due to sensory concerns.
The event is accessible to children and families with disabilities only, ensuring a supportive and inclusive atmosphere for all attendees.
