Scottish Dairy Increases Cottage Cheese Production Amid TikTok Demand Surge
Graham’s Family Dairy, a prominent Scottish dairy company, has significantly increased its production of cottage cheese in response to heightened demand spurred by viral TikTok trends. The company has completed a £3.5 million extension to its Glenfield site in Fife, which will boost cottage cheese production by 50% and create 25 local jobs.
The trend, which started on TikTok, has seen supermarkets struggling to keep up with demand, as recipes featuring cottage cheese have gained millions of views online. For instance, 'cottage cheese breakfast rounds' have been viewed 15.1 million times, while 'cottage cheese edible cookie dough' has been watched 8.7 million times.
At Graham’s Family Dairy, the impact of social media has been substantial, with sales doubling over the past few years, translating to an additional two million kilograms sold. The company now produces 100,000 pots of cottage cheese daily at its Cowdenbeath site.
Robert Graham, a representative from the company, mentioned that the demand is not limited to the UK, as they have begun exporting to Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Hong Kong. The company’s expansion into these international markets highlights the growing global appeal of cottage cheese.
According to Tesco, one of the largest supermarket chains, demand for cottage cheese has tripled over the past two years. The Grocer reported that UK cottage cheese volumes increased from approximately 900,000 kg in early 2023 to over 1.7 million kilograms by the end of 2025.
