Sales of condensed dairy products in Russia fell by 8% from 2020 to 2024, decreasing from 327 thousand tons to 302 thousand tons. These figures are presented in the 'Analysis of the Condensed Dairy Products Market in Russia' prepared by BusinesStat.
The Market for Condensed Dairy Products in Russia Decreased by 8% Over Five Years
The dynamics of the Russian condensed dairy products market were uneven:
  • In 2020 and 2022, there was a surge in demand for long shelf-life products, including condensed milk, due to the pandemic and an increase in demand from the public sector, respectively.
  • In 2023, sales grew by 1% thanks to an increase in real disposable incomes and the active development of the HoReCa sector (cafes and restaurants) offering baked goods and beverages with condensed dairy products.
  • However, in 2024, sales dropped by 6%. The main reason was the promotion of healthy eating principles and the preference of Russians for less caloric dairy products.
Despite the overall decline in retail sales, condensed milk and cream remain in demand among Russian confectionery manufacturers. The share of industrial processing averages 46% of the total sales volume of condensed dairy products. The demand for confectionery in Russia is stable, but the growing popularity of a healthy lifestyle limits the possibilities for more active growth in their production.
