Udmurtiya's Agricultural Exports Increased Significantly
Olga Abramova, acting head of Udmurtiya, announced the growth in exports at a roundtable dedicated to the export of agricultural products during the Zolotaya osen' 2026 exhibition. She noted that the most significant growth began in 2021–2022 and continued in the following years.
In January–August 2026, the export of the republic's agricultural products was 55% higher than in the same period in 2025. For comparison, in 2017 the export volume was assessed at $1.7 million. The final export value for the eight months of 2026 is not provided in the report.
Dairy products account for 44% of the export structure. Oil and fat products make up 24%, food products and processed goods account for 20.2%, and meat products constitute 1.5%. China, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan are named as buyers.
Udmurtiya exports not only raw materials abroad but also value-added products. These include cheese, butter, and whey. To the countries in the Eurasian Economic Union, the republic also sends cream, cottage cheese, fermented milk products, poultry meat, eggs, grains, and animal feeds.
Abramova stated that cooperation with Eurasian Economic Union countries might facilitate manufacturers entering foreign markets. She mentioned logistics and the coordination of veterinary requirements as possible factors.
For further export growth, the republic plans to double investments in the agro-industrial complex and increase industry exports to $100 million. Prospective directions include deep milk processing, production of meat and meat products, processing of flax and technical hemp, and exploring new international markets.
Previously, at the plenary session of the Zolotaya osen' exhibition, Abramova presented a federal project on livestock development. It includes genetics and breeding, reproduction, animal health, and environmental factors. Oksana Lut, Russia's Minister of Agriculture, stated that certain developments from Udmurtiya were used in preparing the project.
