North Kazakhstan Leads in Dairy Production and Processing

Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov recently visited the North Kazakhstan region to assess the progress in the agro-industrial sector, specifically in dairy production. The region currently ranks first in Kazakhstan for milk production, contributing about one-sixth of the nation's total milk processing volume.

During his visit to the village of Korneyevka in the Yessil District, Bektenov inspected the Atameken-Agro-Korneyevka LLP, a modern digital dairy farm. This facility houses 2,500 dairy cattle, including over 1,300 Holstein-Friesian cows imported from Hungary, Germany, Denmark, and the Netherlands. The first 300 cows from Germany have already adapted to the local climate and are set to be sold to agricultural producers in autumn.

The farm utilizes advanced technologies such as a German-made Westfalia automated milking parlor and digital herd management systems like DairyPlan and CowScout. These systems facilitate automated milk yield accounting, equipment monitoring, and animal health tracking. By the end of 2025, the farm had produced approximately 11,000 tons of milk, with an additional 3,000 tons produced since the beginning of this year.

Across the region, 118 dairy farms are operational. Additionally, the region hosts nine poultry farms, including six egg-producing facilities with a capacity exceeding 600 million eggs annually. In 2025, the region's gross output of livestock products was valued at 208 billion tenge, marking a 6% increase. The production included 82,000 tons of meat, 382,000 tons of milk, and 631 million eggs.

Bektenov emphasized that the development of dairy farms aligns with the President's objective to increase processed product output in the agro-industrial sector to 70%. He highlighted that such initiatives enhance food security, expand the raw material base for processing, and generate permanent rural employment.

Nationwide, 373 dairy farms produce a combined annual milk output of about 1 million tons. Plans are in place to construct 116 modern dairy farms across the country, aiming for a total annual output of approximately 600,000 tons of milk. To date, 71 of these farms have been commissioned, with 19 more expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
