Milk imports would once again put dairy farmers between a rock and a hard place due to the high cost of production.
The dairy crisis could be felt again in Colombia

Despite the recent growth in milk sales in regions like Boyacá, Colombia's dairy sector could soon face another crisis. While a temporary stabilization was achieved due to reduced imports and increased local purchases in late 2024 and early 2025, the re-opening of import channels threatens the progress made.

National Dignity of Livestock president, América Ardila, highlighted the precarious situation: "Even though local purchases improved slightly, imports might destabilize the market again due to U.S. import policies." She also pointed to the challenges posed by logistical issues and price discrepancies, affecting producers who already struggle with high production costs.
