Drinking Milk Production in Romania Increased by 44% Over 9 Years

Yogurt and kefir production also increased by 22%, from 166,000 to 203,000 tons, while total cheese output rose by 36.7%, reaching 102,100 tons. The most significant growth was recorded in cheese made from cow’s milk, which increased by 46% over the past decade, reaching 94,000 tons.

Experts note that a significant share of production growth is due to supplier consolidation and the rise in raw milk imports. In 2023, Romania imported 192,500 tons of raw milk at an average price of €2,078/ton, which is 168% higher than the price in 2014.
