Dirty Dairy: Health Scare Triggers ₹36,500 Fine

Dehradun Municipal Corporation took significant action against two dairy owners in response to public complaints about severe sanitation violations. The enforcement, driven by municipal commissioner Namami Bansal and executed by Dr. Varun Agarwal, highlighted a robust civic response to poor hygiene practices in agriculture-related operations.

After receiving a complaint via the CM Helpline 1905, inspections moved rapidly, confirming multiple regulatory breaches at dairies in the Mehuwala Mafi Raipur block. Insufficient registration, untagged animals, and overcrowding signaled deeper management issues.

The most pressing concerns involved hazardous waste management practices, with evidence of cow dung in open drains, fostering unsanitary conditions and mosquito proliferation. This resulted in immediate penalties, with fines of ₹16,500 and ₹20,000 imposed on October 13.

Beyond penalties, the MCD conducted educational outreach with the dairy owners, emphasizing adherence to sanitation standards and prevention of public inconvenience. The warning remains clear: future violations will prompt "strict action."
