Dale Farm's Strategic Expansion and Recruitment Drive in Dairy Sector

Dale Farm, recognized as one of the UK and Ireland’s largest farmer-owned dairy cooperatives, is embarking on a major expansion of its commercial operations. This initiative includes a significant recruitment drive, aimed at supporting the next phase of its long-term growth strategy. The cooperative, owned by 1,300 dairy farmers across Northern Ireland, England, and Scotland, has experienced five consecutive years of strong commercial performance.

During this period, Dale Farm has bolstered its market presence and completed a substantial £70 million investment in its cheddar processing facility. The cooperative now commercializes nearly 80,000 tonnes of cheddar annually, serving customers in over 40 countries across retail, foodservice, and B2B channels.

The recent success of Dale Farm has been attributed to its clear commercial focus and robust performance across various teams, including commercial, marketing, innovation, and commercial finance. As demand continues to rise and new opportunities emerge in both domestic and international markets, the cooperative is recruiting for roles in Retail, B2B, market insight, innovation, and commercial finance.

Group Commercial Director Mark Boyle emphasized the importance of the recruitment drive to the co-op’s long-term strategy. He highlighted that the commercial teams have driven strong growth across key categories, with a noted 20% growth in their cheddar business over the past year. Expanding across the UK, Ireland, and Europe, Dale Farm has also strengthened its global B2B partnerships.

Boyle noted that consumer behavior is evolving rapidly, and global dairy markets are continuously changing. Strengthening market insight and innovation teams will ensure that Dale Farm remains ahead of trends, introducing compelling new products and processes to the market. Additionally, expanding the commercial finance capability is aimed at optimizing performance and prioritizing effectively as the cooperative grows.

Boyle concluded by stating the cooperative’s commitment to fostering a high-performance culture, where colleagues can excel and shape the co-op’s future. More information about opportunities within Dale Farm’s expanded commercial team can be found on their careers page.
