Colombian Dairy Imports Surpass Records by July 2025
Colombia has experienced a surge in dairy imports in the first seven months of 2025, reaching a record 44,215 tons, an increase of 21% from the 36,417 tons imported in the same period of 2024. These figures place current import levels among the highest in nearly two decades, fueled by significant demand for milk powder and cheese.

May was particularly noteworthy with the highest import volume of 8,768 tons.

The primary import categories include skimmed milk powder at 20,033 tons, valued at approximately 58.6 million USD, whole milk powder at 8,097 tons with a value of 33.2 million USD, and fresh cheeses at 2,336 tons.

The United States dominates as the leading supplier, accounting for 53% of the imports, followed by contributions from Chile and Bolivia. This trend poses a challenge for local producers, increasing competitive pressures and affecting market negotiations.
