British Dairy Exports Increase Amid Global Demand for Premium Products
British dairy products are gaining traction in international markets, with substantial promotional campaigns in Thailand and the United States boosting exposure. According to the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB), these efforts align with a growing global appetite for premium cheese and value-added dairy products.
In 2025, the UK dairy export market has seen a positive trend, shipping £1.6 billion worth of products so far, suggesting an increase over last year’s figures. Recently released data indicates that third-quarter export volumes rose by 5.5% year-on-year to 294,000 tonnes, with the value of exports increasing by 13.7% to £529 million.
In Thailand, the 'Discover UK' campaign, supported by AHDB representative Karen Liao, featured seven British dairy brands across 22 Food Hall stores and two Tops Fine Food outlets. This initiative allowed Thai consumers to experience UK cheeses and the craftsmanship behind them amidst rising demand for premium imported dairy.
In the United States, AHDB’s US representative Victor Willis facilitated a major promotion with Angelo Caputo’s Fresh Markets, featuring nine British dairy brands through 34 live tastings and digital advertising. Many American shoppers sampled British cheese for the first time, appreciating its distinctive quality.
These initiatives are part of a broader strategy to enhance the UK's dairy global footprint as markets in Asia and North America increasingly seek high-quality imported cheese. Analysts highlight that sustained export growth offers crucial support to the UK dairy sector amid unpredictable domestic production costs.
With international interest on the rise, the British dairy industry is poised to maintain this momentum into 2026, contingent on improved market access and continued investment in export promotions.
