Banas Dairy Recognized for Leading Water Conservation Efforts in India
Banas Dairy, a prominent dairy enterprise based in Palanpur, has received the National Water Award in the 'Best Industrial Unit' category. This accolade was presented by President Droupadi Murmu during a ceremony at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. The award acknowledges the dairy's substantial efforts in water conservation and management within the Banaskantha district.
As part of its conservation initiatives, Banas Dairy has constructed over 325 ponds and more than 30,000 soak pits, effectively aiding in the recharge of groundwater in Gujarat's water-scarce regions. These measures have revitalized extensive acres of farmland and improved the reliability of irrigation, fostering sustainable agricultural practices.
Chairman Shankar Chaudhary highlighted the implementation of advanced water recycling systems at the dairy's processing facilities, aligning with the national 'Catch the Rain' initiative spearheaded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This initiative emphasizes the crucial role of farmers and livestock owners in these conservation efforts.
Chaudhary emphasized Banas Dairy's commitment to continuing its initiatives aimed at promoting environmental resilience and water security. By integrating community-based water stewardship with industrial sustainability measures, Banas Dairy sets a benchmark for responsible resource management within India's organized dairy sector.
