Aughnacloy Farmer Receives Recognition at Lakeland Dairies Awards
Philip Kyle, a dairy farmer from Aughnacloy, has been acknowledged as one of the leading milk producers in Northern Ireland at the Lakeland Dairies Milk Quality Awards. Held in Clogher, the awards celebrate excellence across the co-operative’s extensive farming network.
Kyle was named a highly-commended runner-up in the under one million litre producer category. This places him among the top milk suppliers in the region, reflecting his dedication and consistency in maintaining high standards of dairy production.
The annual awards recognize over 3,200 Lakeland Dairies farm families from 17 counties, who collectively produce more than two billion litres of milk each year. The awards were presented by Dr. Sinclair Mayne, former chief executive of the Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute, acknowledging the outstanding efforts of farmers within the co-operative.
Lakeland Dairies chair Niall Matthews expressed appreciation for the commitment shown by suppliers, stating, “The Milk Quality Awards recognize the very best of what our co-operative represents – a deep-rooted commitment to dairy excellence at farm level.”
Colin Kelly, chief executive of the Lakeland Dairies Group, highlighted that these awards showcase the ambition and professionalism of the co-operative’s suppliers, who consistently aim to enhance quality standards through innovation and attention to detail.
The event serves as a testament to the dedication of farmers like Kyle, who continually contribute to the production of world-class dairy products while supporting sustainable and progressive farming practices.
