Amul Brand Achieves Historic Turnover of One Trillion Rupees
The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd. (GCMMF) has reported a milestone achievement for the Amul brand, with a turnover surpassing one trillion rupees for the 2025-26 financial year. The brand's revenue increased by 11% from its base of 90,000 crore rupees in 2024-25, further solidifying its status as a dominant entity in the global dairy industry.
GCMMF, the largest farmer-owned dairy cooperative in the world, recorded a sales turnover of 73,450 crore rupees, reflecting an 11.4% rise over the previous year's 65,911 crore rupees. This growth is attributed to Amul's extensive product portfolio of over 1,200 product packs and a widespread distribution network.
The federation's strategic focus has been on both domestic market dominance and aggressive global expansion. Recent initiatives include the introduction of fresh milk in Europe and the United States, signaling Amul's intention to become a household name internationally.
In a move to expand the cooperative model nationally, the Sardar Patel Cooperative Dairy Federation Limited (SPCDF) was launched on July 6, 2025, by Union Minister Shri Amit Shah. This new federation aims to integrate village-level dairy cooperatives across India into a national network.
Amul's chairman, Sh. Ashokbhai Chaudhary, acknowledged the efforts of 3.6 million dairy farmers in achieving the turnover milestone. Vice-chairman Sh. Gordhanbhai Dhameliya emphasized the success as a victory for the cooperative model, describing it as an enduring blueprint for economic democracy.
