Aavin Reaffirms Green Magic Milk Supply Amidst Distribution Rumors

Aavin, a state-owned Indian dairy cooperative, has officially refuted claims suggesting the permanent discontinuation of its Green Magic milk product. The rumors, which had sparked significant concern among consumers, were addressed in an official statement released by the cooperative on Saturday, confirming that distribution of the milk remains uninterrupted.

The speculation emerged following reports that Aavin had reduced supply due to a decrease in raw milk procurement, leading some media outlets to suggest that consumers might turn to more expensive private-label dairy products. However, Aavin labeled these claims as unfounded and reassured the public of its ongoing commitment to affordable dairy nutrition.

Green Magic milk, packaged in recognizable green containers, is a staple in many households, featuring a standardized 4.5% fat content. It is competitively priced, with a 225 ml packet costing Rs 11 and a 500 ml packet available for Rs 22. Aavin has emphasized that the logistics and supply chain for this product have not experienced any disruptions.

The rumors prompted reactions from political figures, including Anbumani Ramadoss, founder of the Pattali Makkal Katchi party, who called for assurances from the Tamil Nadu government to maintain the availability of fresh milk.

Aavin's management has urged consumers and milk dealers to disregard misinformation and reaffirmed that current processing volumes are sufficient to meet retail demand. This incident highlights the challenges faced by state-run dairies in managing both supply and public perception.
