Manipur Government Transfers Dairy Cooperative Operations to NDDB

In a substantial development aimed at transforming the dairy sector in Manipur, the state government has entered a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB).
Strengthening the Dairy Industry
The MoU facilitates the transfer of operations of the Manipur Milk Producers’ Cooperative Union Ltd to NDDB, a central organization.
Leadership and Vision
Chief Minister N Biren Singh outlined this agreement as a long-awaited step towards improving dairy production. It's expected to bring professional management and structural reforms within the state's dairy cooperatives.
National Context
India, known for its substantial contribution to global milk production, emphasizes the importance of rural engagement in the dairy economy.
With a strategic focus on the Northeast states, NDDB plans to enhance Manipur's milk production under this MoU, led by Chairman Meenesh Shah.
Community Impact
This initiative is particularly vital for local athletes, who often struggle to afford high-nutrition diets, with milk being a primary nutritional supplement.
