Meenesh Shah: A Pioneering Leader in India's Dairy Sector

Meenesh Shah is a prominent figure in the Indian dairy industry, known for his visionary approach and significant contributions to dairy production and development. He currently holds the prestigious position of Chairman at the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), where he plays a crucial role in shaping the future of India's dairy landscape.

Current Role and Contributions

As the Chairman of NDDB, Meenesh Shah has been instrumental in implementing innovative strategies for sustainable growth in the dairy sector. One of his key initiatives includes enhancing milk production in Manipur, focusing on infrastructure improvement, training, and resource allocation. This has not only benefited the local economy but also improved the livelihoods of farmers in the region.

Strategic Initiatives and Impact

Under Shah's leadership, NDDB's initiatives have reached over 65,000 milk producers and 1,150 dairy societies. He is also spearheading the establishment of the Kargil dairy plant and is actively involved in enhancing the fresh milk supply to the Indian Army in high-altitude regions.

In addition to his role at NDDB, Shah serves as the Chairman of the National Cooperative Dairy Federation of India (NCDFI). He has expressed pride in collaborating with Assam Rifles and continuing NCDFI's association with national defense and paramilitary forces.

Meenesh Shah was present at the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Agartala, Tripura, aimed at enhancing the dairy cooperative sector. He has also discussed NDDB's role in providing professional management and transparency in Ladakh’s dairy sector, leading to increased milk procurement.

Shah has highlighted NDDB's initiatives, such as free vaccination programs and goat artificial insemination, contributing significantly to India's transition from milk shortages to self-sufficiency. In 2015, he played a role in establishing a foundation to support schoolchildren and vulnerable groups, which has distributed about 4.4 million liters of milk to over 150,000 children in 900 government schools and anganwadis.

On February 12, 2026, Shah exchanged a hosting agreement with Laurence Rycken, Director General of the International Dairy Federation (IDF), in New Delhi, further strengthening international collaborations in the dairy sector.

Meenesh Shah flagged off 12 new milk tankers and two electric vehicles for distributing dairy products from the Bhopal Milk Union.
