The Chief Minister of Jharkhand inaugurated a new milk powder plant aimed at enhancing the dairy sector and supporting rural livelihoods in the state.

On June 6, 2025, in Anand, Shri Hemant Soren, the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Jharkhand, inaugurated a new 20 MTPD milk powder plant at Medha Dairy in Ranchi. The plant, part of Jharkhand State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation Ltd. (JMF) and managed by the NDDB, is a key step towards promoting self-reliance in the state's dairy sector.
During the ceremony, the CM also introduced Medha Ragi Laddoo, an organic fertilizer, and a new app for distributors. Additionally, a foundation stone for a silage making plant using waste was laid. The plant aims to enable local processing of surplus milk, which is currently sent to other states, thus promising better returns for Jharkhand’s milk producers.
Hon'ble CM Soren emphasized the critical role of women in these initiatives and the government's commitment to enhancing agricultural productivity and income.
Smt Shilpi Neha Tirkey, Minister of Agriculture, said the plant strengthens Jharkhand’s dairy ecosystem and improves livelihoods, aligning with NDDB’s broader vision. She mentioned that the government supports JMF milk suppliers with an incentive of Rs. 5 per litre.
Shri Meenesh Shah, Chairman of NDDB, highlighted the importance of the new facility for stabilizing farmers' incomes and detailed the progress JMF has made under NDDB’s management, including expanding to 65,000 milk producers and 1,150 dairy societies.
