Zott Group Announces CEO Transition Amid Broader Succession Plan
Zott Group, one of Europe’s significant dairy producers, has announced a transition in its executive leadership. Current CEO Frank Uszko will step down from his position on December 31. René Roth, who presently serves as the company's chief commercial officer, is set to assume the role of CEO.
Christine Weber, Zott's founder and board chair, expressed regret over Uszko’s decision to resign. She acknowledged his efforts in transitioning Zott from an owner-managed family business to one managed by external directors. On Roth’s new appointment, Weber remarked on his extensive expertise and deep understanding of the company, emphasizing the full trust he enjoys within the organization.
This leadership change is part of a broader succession plan that includes the future appointment of Dr. Marcel Hahne as the chief commercial officer starting July 1, 2026. Hahne is described by Zott as an experienced executive in dairy sales.
With around 2,979 employees and projected sales of €1.28 billion in 2025, Zott Group ranks among the larger dairy companies in Europe. The company processes approximately 881 million kilograms of milk annually and produces a variety of products, including yogurts, cheese, ice cream, and vegan alternatives.
The Bavarian company operates several production sites, including its main plant in Mertingen, Germany, and additional facilities in Günzburg, Germany, and Opole, Poland. Zott’s sales operations extend across Central and Eastern Europe, with markets in countries like Austria, Hungary, Croatia, as well as Vietnam.
Just Food has sought further clarification from Zott regarding the revenue distribution across its brand and private label business operations and the company’s sales expectations for the year.
