Kazakhstan's Livestock Industry Grows by 3.4% in 2025: Milk as the Growth Driver

The volume of livestock and poultry slaughter in live weight increased by 2.5%, cow's milk production by 5.7%, and egg production by 1.4%. Quantitatively, farms of all categories produced 1.38 million tons of meat, almost 3 million tons of milk, and 3.4 billion eggs.
Experts note that the main source of growth remains peasant and personal subsidiary farms, which account for over 85% of cattle and sheep. Industrial enterprises maintain leadership in poultry and pig farming, where the level of mechanization and technological equipment is significantly higher.
As of October 1, 2025, the country had 8.4 million head of cattle, 22.8 million sheep and goats, 4.2 million horses, and 46 million poultry. Despite a slight reduction in the cattle population, the overall production volume increased, indicating improved resource utilization efficiency.
The average milk yield across all farm categories was 1,939 kg per cow, while in agricultural enterprises it was 2,199 kg, reflecting a gradual increase in productivity and the adoption of modern husbandry technologies.
According to the Bureau, a growth rate above 103% was recorded almost every month, indicating a steady and consistent trend. The industry continues to adapt to market conditions, maintaining a balance between traditional farming methods and industrial production.
