Wales Seeks Nominations for Outstanding Dairy Service Award

The Farmers’ Union of Wales (FUW) has opened nominations for its Outstanding Service to the Welsh Dairy Industry Award, with support from NatWest Cymru. The award is intended for an individual whose work has contributed to the development of the dairy sector in Wales and to its wider community.

The winner will be announced publicly during the award presentation at the Welsh Dairy Show on Tuesday, October 20, 2026. The event will take place at the United Counties Showground in Nantyci, Carmarthen.

David Waters, FUW Carmarthen Member Services Manager, said the award recognised people whose work had helped shape the industry. “This award provides a terrific opportunity to recognise the hard work, dedication, and innovation of individuals who have helped shape the industry for the better,” he said.

Mr Waters said the FUW was particularly pleased to have joined forces with NatWest Cymru for this year’s award. He added that the bank’s support would help give the honour greater public visibility.

Dai Miles, the FUW’s Deputy President and the 2021 recipient of the award, described dairy farming as an important part of Wales’s agricultural sector and a significant contributor to the Welsh economy. He said individuals in the industry worked every day to protect and promote the sector, and that the award would publicly recognise those people.

Nominations must be submitted as a letter or citation containing full details of the candidate’s work and achievements.
