Hakan Sezer, Production Manager at Breakfast World Packaging Livestock and Food Industry Trade Limited Company, reported that their Trabzon-based enterprise processes 30 tons of milk each day into various dairy products including butter and cheese. Established in 2000 and relocated in 2009 to a modern facility in Sürmene district, the company has grown significantly, now operating on 8.5 acres and employing 70 people.
Supported by the Agriculture and Rural Development Support Institution (TKDK), the company has capitalized on quality and hygiene-oriented production practices. Sezer, a chemical engineer by profession, explained that the facility sources milk from several regions including Rize, Bayburt, Gümüşhane, Erzincan, and Erzurum, in addition to Trabzon. While a significant portion of the milk is used for butter production, the company also produces various types of cheese such as Kashar, Trabzon wire cheese, and Aho cheese, though it does not produce feta cheese and yogurt due to limited milk availability.
"Our butter production reaches 10-12 tons daily, with monthly sales around 300 tons, and our cheese production is between 70-80 tons, with plans to increase this further," Sezer said. He also highlighted the company's additional facility in Bayburt, a region known for its milk production, which further supports their processing capabilities.
Despite receiving international inquiries, Sezer noted that the company currently focuses on the domestic market, particularly high-end retail shelves, with goals to expand and enhance quality continually.
"Since moving to this facility in 2009, we've modernized significantly. We've strategically chosen our equipment and have received substantial support from TKDK, including tools and refrigeration systems, with a 50 percent grant which has greatly benefitted our operations," Sezer added.
Looking ahead, Sezer emphasized the importance of ongoing research and development efforts to innovate and expand the company’s product line, ensuring sustained growth and leveraging continued support from TKDK.
