Former U.S. President Donald Trump has announced the introduction of tariffs on imports from 185 countries, including Kazakhstan.

Trump published tables listing the 185 nations affected by the new tariffs on his Truth Social page. The tariffs, imposed on a reciprocal basis, will apply to imported goods from these countries.
The base tariff rate is set at 10%, but for many countries, it is significantly higher. For example:
China – 34%
European Uni on countries – 20%
Switzerland – 31%
United Kingdom – 10%
Israel – 17%
Kazakhstan – 27%
Some of the highest tariffs have been imposed on:
Vietnam – 46%
Cambodia – 49%
Laos – 48%
Russia is notably absent from the list, as are Mexico, Iran, Canada, and Belarus. However, Washington has decided to impose a 10% tariff on imports from Ukraine.
Most post-Soviet countries will face a 10% tariff, except for:
Moldova – 31%
Kazakhstan – 27%
Meanwhile, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan will all be subject to a 10% tariff.
25% Tariff on Automobiles
Trump has also signed an order imposing a 25% tariff on the import of passenger cars, light trucks, and auto parts.
The former president called the introduction of tariffs a “Declaration of Economic Independence”, claiming that April 2 will go down in history as the “day of American industrial revival.”
He warned that foreign leaders calling to request tariff exemptions would be advised to remove their own trade barriers instead.
Trump: “This Is the End of the Exploitation of the U.S. Economy”
Trump stated that both "friends and enemies of the U.S." had exploited the American economy for decades, but that with the new reciprocal tariffs, that era is over.
According to Trump, these measures will usher in a “golden age” for the U.S. economy, bringing jobs and factories back to America.
He also claimed that the U.S. government will direct "trillions of dollars" from the tariffs toward tax cuts and debt reduction and that these changes will happen "very quickly."
"For years, hardworking American citizens were forced to stand by as other countries grew rich and powerful—largely at our expense. But now, it is our turn to prosper, using trillions of dollars to cut taxes and pay down the national debt," Trump said.
When Do the Tariffs Take Effect?
The base 10% tariff will take effect on April 5, while the higher “reciprocal” tariffs on sel ect countries will be enforced starting April 9.
Trump has also warned that he may adjust tariff rates at any time.
