Tesco Northern Ireland Adds Drayne’s Farm Ice Cream

Tesco Northern Ireland has added Drayne’s Farm Madagascan Vanilla and Honeycomb Crunch to its selection of locally produced foods. The two flavours are being sold in 950ml family tubs at large Tesco outlets across Northern Ireland.

Drayne’s Farm operates from a 200-acre site in Lisburn and has been a dairy business since 1932. The company was established by brothers Seamus, Aidan and Dermot Drayne, who initially delivered milk locally using a horse and cart. It is now an independent family enterprise producing, processing and distributing dairy goods from the farm.

The business handles the full production process on-site. This includes managing its herd, pasteurising the milk and making the ice cream. Its Madagascan Vanilla uses milk and cream from the farm’s own cattle together with Royal Bourbon vanilla sourced from Madagascar.

Honeycomb Crunch is made with Drayne’s pure milk ice cream and pieces of handmade honeycomb supplied by Aunt Sandra’s Candy Factory in Belfast. Both products have received awards, according to Drayne’s Farm.

Owen Drayne, the company’s managing director, said the family business was proud to start supplying Tesco and to reach more customers. He said each tub begins with milk from the farm’s herd and that the company focused on local ingredients and dairy skills when developing its products.

Orla Doherty, a buying manager at Tesco Northern Ireland, said Drayne’s Farm brought together local milk, family experience and product development. She said support for local producers remained an important part of Tesco’s business and described the summer launch as an opportunity to promote the brand.

The two 950ml products are now available in large Tesco stores throughout Northern Ireland.
