Tesco NI expands its local dairy range this autumn

Tesco Northern Ireland has announced a seasonal expansion of its locally produced dairy selection, with the new products due to arrive in stores this week. The range brings together items from producers in different parts of Northern Ireland and includes a collaboration between two local brands.

The main new arrival is Clandeboye Estate Madagascan Vanilla & Irish Black Butter Greek Style Yoghurt. Irish Black Butter, despite its name, is not a dairy product. It is an apple preserve made with spices by a Portrush-based brand.

The selection also includes two flavoured milk drinks made by Millar Moo in Belfast. The chocolate and strawberry varieties are being sold in 500ml glass bottles. Millar Moo was established in 2019, while its 250ml canned products are already included in Tesco’s Meal Deal range.

Dramona Extra Mature Cheddar completes the new dairy offering. Dramona makes the cheese in Portadown using milk supplied by local dairy farms. The product has been named Best Irish Regional Cheese by the Virtual Cheese Awards and has received a gold star at the Great Taste Awards.

David Thompson, Tesco NI’s buying manager for dairy, said the retailer was “proud to support local suppliers of all sizes” and to display their products in its stores. He described the new products as examples of the quality and innovation coming from local producers as they develop their ranges.

Mr Thompson also said customers could buy locally sourced products in Tesco stores and online. He added that the retailer would be watching how customers respond to the latest additions.
