CIS Countries Agree on Plans to Combat Rabies, Foot-and-Mouth Disease, and Avian Influenza Until 2030

The meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government took place in Minsk. As a result, several documents were signed, including three key decisions in the field of veterinary medicine aimed at strengthening the epizootic well-being of the region:
-
A comprehensive set of actions for the prevention and control of rabies until 2030;
-
A comprehensive set of measures for the prevention and control of foot-and-mouth disease until 2030;
-
A comprehensive set of actions for the prevention and control of avian influenza and Newcastle disease until 2030.
According to the CIS Executive Committee, the adopted measures are aimed at preventing the spread of infections, reducing economic damage to livestock, and minimizing health risks to humans. Special attention is given to the harmonization of veterinary standards, coordination of monitoring, and rapid data exchange between the national services of the CIS countries.
The adopted roadmaps take into account international standards of the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) and continue previously implemented cooperation programs. For example, the upd ated rabies control plan maintains continuity with the previous version, which was in effect until 2025, and expands the range of preventive measures, including vaccination of wild and domestic animals and enhancing veterinary supervision.
Experts from the Federal Center for Animal Health (FGBI "ARRIAH" Rosselkhoznadzor) and representatives of relevant agencies from all CIS member countries participated in the preparation and coordination of the documents.
The adoption of a unified se t of measures until 2030 creates a coordinated mechanism for responding to epizootic threats and contributes to strengthening the region's food security.
