Russia Imposes Temporary Restrictions on Animal and Product Imports from Hungary Due to Bluetongue

The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) announced the implementation of temporary restrictions on the import of certain animals and animal products from Hungary due to the worsening epizootic situation related to the bluetongue virus infection. This was reported by Dairynews.today citing a letter from the agency to the heads of Rosselkhoznadzor's regional offices.

According to the agency's announcement, as of September 16, 2025, the following are banned from import into Russia:

large and small ruminants,
-
wild, zoo, and circus animals susceptible to bluetongue,
-
camels and other members of the camelid family,
-
semen of bulls, rams, and breeding goats,
-
embryos of large and small ruminants,
-
meat of wild small ruminant ungulates.
The restrictions also apply to the transit of large and small ruminants and other susceptible animal species through Russian territory from Hungary.
