Rosselkhoznadzor has decided to impose temporary restrictions on the import and transit of live sheep, goats, and other susceptible animals from Bulgaria and Romania into the territory of the Russian Federation.

The restrictions are introduced due to the outbreak of sheep and goat pox in these countries. The list of goods subject to state veterinary supervision, to which the restrictions apply, includes products made from sheep and goat meat, milk and dairy products, animal-origin feed, as well as used equipment for keeping, slaughtering, and processing these animals.
According to the World Organization for Animal Health, 11 outbreaks of sheep and goat pox have been registered in Bulgaria since July 20, 2025, and 7 outbreaks in Romania since July 17, 2025.
Rosselkhoznadzor notes that information on measures taken by the veterinary services of Bulgaria and Romania to prevent the spread and eradication of the disease has not been received by the agency.
