Piracanjuba Completes Acquisition of Laticínio Sertão with CADE Approval
The Brazilian antitrust authority, CADE, has given its approval for the acquisition of Laticínio Sertão by Grupo Piracanjuba, allowing the company to proceed with its expansion plans in the Northeast region. This marks the official completion of the acquisition process, which was initially announced in May.
With the acquisition finalized on July 1, Piracanjuba has incorporated the Monteirópolis (AL) unit of Laticínio Sertão into its industrial structure. This integration brings the total number of Piracanjuba's industrial units in Brazil to 12, enhancing its strategic presence in the region.
The newly integrated unit, specialized in cheese and dairy product manufacturing, is expected to boost Piracanjuba's production capacity and improve logistics efficiency. The company aims to maintain the approximately 70 direct jobs at the unit and continue its existing relationships with local milk producers.
Initially, products will continue to be sold under the Laticínio Sertão brand, with a gradual operational transition to the Piracanjuba brand as outlined in the acquisition contract. The approval by CADE signifies the transformation of the expansion strategy from a planned project to an operational reality.
The integration process will be conducted gradually, ensuring a smooth transition for the operational and industrial activities at the new unit, thereby solidifying Piracanjuba's competitive position in the dairy market.
