Piercristiano Brazzale, President of the International Dairy Federation (IDF), made this statement during his speech at the XV Dairy Olympics, organized by Dairynews.today in Ankara.
"We are witnessing the growth of plant-based alternatives. It is crucial for us to monitor their labeling; they must be correctly named. Many of our colleagues are now entering this sector. Whether mixed products or purely plant-based alternatives, we must remember that alternatives are different products and should be named differently.
"There will also be developments in laboratory-produced products, for example through precision fermentation.
"The dairy industry faces numerous challenges. We see changing consumption trends influenced by social and geopolitical factors. We must use innovation and best practices to adapt to new markets and the new desires of consumers who are concerned with sustainability, convenience, and health. Consumers also want to have new experiences and enjoy the product. Our products must have a story and be attractive," emphasized Mr. Brazzale.
