Oman's inflation held at 0.81% year-on-year for the first five months of 2025, supported by consistent housing and fuel costs, coupled with a decline in crucial food prices, as per official statistics. "The stability of food and non-alcoholic beverage prices this year reflects the slowdown in global price increases and the continuation of government support policies for basic goods and services," stated Oman’s Ministry of Economy spokesperson Salem bin Abdullah Al-Sheikh.

Meanwhile, other Middle Eastern countries displayed varied inflation trends, with Jordan at 1.98%, Saudi Arabia at 2.2%, and Dubai at 2.3% in April. Egypt faced higher inflation, rising 16.8%.
Oman's food production, marketing, and manufacturing efforts are continually enhanced, contributing to the food security strategy and economic diversification goals set in the Tenth Five-Year Plan.

The general import price index saw a 1.3% increase, while the producer price index grew by 4.1% compared to the previous year.
Globally, food commodity prices increased in June, driven by meat, vegetable oil, and dairy sectors' price hikes, based on reports from the UN Food and Agriculture Organization.

Regionally, inflation showed a slight decline in South Al Batinah Governorate, with Al Dakhiliyah and Musandam experiencing the highest inflation rates at 1.58% and 1.51%, respectively. The agriculture and fisheries sectors have shown growth, contributing significantly to the GDP, with future infrastructure projects planned under the Governorate Development Program.
