Nestlé India Sees Significant Profit Surge in Q1 FY27
Nestlé India has announced a significant financial performance for the first quarter of fiscal year 2027, ending June 30. The company registered a 47.9% year-on-year increase in standalone net profit, reaching ₹975.1 crore, equivalent to $101.1 million. This surge in profit is attributed to a broad-based expansion in both top-line and bottom-line figures, with revenue from operations climbing 25.2% to ₹6,378.2 crore, up from ₹5,096.2 crore in the same period last year.
The company's robust performance was reflected in its stock price, which rose over 4%, hitting a 52-week high of ₹1,510 on the National Stock Exchange. A key factor in this success was the volume-led demand growth experienced across urban centers and expanding rural distribution networks. Total domestic sales saw a notable increase of 25.0%, reaching ₹6,073.1 crore, while export revenue grew by 35.6%, totaling ₹290.2 crore, despite challenges such as global trade and geopolitical tensions.
Managing Director Manish Tiwary highlighted that all four core product categories—powdered and liquid beverages, confectionery, milk products, and prepared dishes—achieved double-digit growth during the quarter. This indicates sustained consumer confidence in well-known brands like Maggi, Nescafé, and KitKat. The company's operational profitability also improved, with EBITDA rising 39.8% year-on-year to ₹1,538.1 crore, increasing the operating margin from 21.6% to 24.2%.
Nestlé India has been active in brand-building efforts, increasing advertising and promotional spending by more than 40% to enhance market penetration across various channels, including traditional, modern trade, and quick-commerce digital platforms. The beverages division, particularly Nescafé Classic and Nescafé Sunrise, completed their 20th consecutive quarter of double-digit growth. Confectionery sales benefited from premiumization trends and e-commerce expansion.
The Prepared Dishes and Cooking Aids segment maintained growth momentum through expanded distribution in tier-2 to tier-4 markets. Quick commerce has emerged as a significant growth driver, supported by targeted packaging and impulse-purchase campaigns.
Looking forward, Nestlé India's management has flagged potential pressures from commodity cost fluctuations, especially concerning raw cocoa and sugar prices due to recent climate impacts. However, with stable coffee supply expectations and ongoing operational cost-saving initiatives, the company anticipates maintaining strong volume growth across both rural and urban markets, reinforcing its solid balance sheet fundamentals for the rest of the fiscal year.
