Nestlé Recalls Infant Formula in Europe Due to Bacterial Contamination
The precautionary measure affects products from several Nestlé brands, including NAN, Nidina, and Guigoz. Among the recalled items are certain variants of NAN Sensilac, NAN Sensitive, and NAN Pro. The NAN brand is part of Nestlé’s portfolio of so-called “billionaire brands,” which represent the company’s highest-revenue product lines globally.
According to available information, the bacteria were identified on one of the plant’s production lines dedicated to infant formula. However, Nestlé stated that there is currently no evidence indicating contamination of finished products already available on the market.
The company has not disclosed how long the affected production line will remain closed, nor whether the incident will have any impact on the overall output of the Nunspeet facility.
Product recalls in the infant nutrition category typically carry significant reputational risks due to the high sensitivity and safety expectations associated with such products. In this case, Nestlé emphasized that the decision was taken as a preventive measure, underscoring its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality in one of its most critical product categories.
