Lactalis Invests €50 Million in German Dairy Facility Expansion
Lactalis has announced a significant expansion of its dairy processing facility in Germany, projecting an increase in annual processing capacities to approximately 40,000 metric tonnes of quark and 104,000 metric tonnes of whey by 2030. This strategic expansion is expected to boost the Neuburg plant's total annual output to about 308,000 metric tonnes.
The Bavarian facility, which specializes in processing liquid milk, cream, yogurts, and dairy desserts, will transition to a continuous, round-the-clock operation. This change will involve a three-shift manufacturing framework operating seven days a week. To support this scaling effort, Lactalis plans to hire approximately 70 additional employees, supplementing its current workforce of 1,300 spread across six operational sites in Germany.
This German expansion is part of a broader international capital restructuring program by Lactalis, which owns renowned brands like Lactel and Président. Last September, Lactalis committed €1 billion to modernize its domestic facilities in France. This multi-year program, which runs until 2030, focuses on processing equipment development, technological innovation, and asset decarbonization, with expansions at its Larceveau, Bouvron, and Bayeux production plants.
The investment in Germany aligns with Lactalis' global strategy to enhance its processing capabilities and modernize its operations, highlighting its commitment to innovation and sustainability in the dairy industry.
