Kyrgyzstan Launches $10 Million Dairy Plant to Reduce Import Dependence

The Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund (RKDF) is funding the construction of a new dairy processing facility, Nukura Pro, in Kyrgyzstan. The plant represents a total investment of nearly $10 million, with more than $5.5 million directly financed by the RKDF. Once operational in August 2026, the facility aims to produce 1,000 tons of milk and 100 tons of cream each month, offering products that are expected to be 30% cheaper than current foreign imports.

According to Artem Novikov, Chairman of the RKDF Board, the facility will cover up to 25% of Kyrgyzstan's domestic dairy needs. Additionally, there are plans to expand export volumes to neighboring members of the Eurasian Economic Union. The plant is equipped with advanced processing lines and Tetra Pak packaging technology, allowing pasteurized milk to have a shelf life of 28 days and ultra-pasteurized products up to nine months.

The establishment of the plant will create 70 direct jobs and support approximately 1,000 small-scale farms in the Chui region. This initiative is part of Kyrgyzstan’s National Development Program through 2030, which focuses on shifting the agricultural sector from raw commodity production to high-value-added processing.
