Kazakhstan Leads the Growth
The cattle herd in Kazakhstan reached 8.9 million head, showing a 22.8% increase compared to April 2024 and a 1.3% rise compared to 2023. This makes the country the undisputed leader in growth rate across the region.
At the same time, in September 2024, Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated: "A special commission uncovered 2 million non-existent head of cattle and over 3 million non-existent small livestock..."
Russia — Largest Herd, but Negative Trend
Russia continues to hold the largest cattle population in the CIS, with 16.5 million head. However, the country is experiencing a decline of 4.3% year-over-year and 2.8% compared to 2023.
Uzbekistan — Second in Herd Size
Uzbekistan ranks second in cattle numbers, with 14.1 million head. The figures indicate moderate growth: +1.9% compared to 2024 and +2.2% compared to 2023.
Central Asia Shows Steady Positive Dynamics
