Jharkhand Invites Bids for New Dairy Plant to Enhance Local Processing
The Jharkhand State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation (JMF) is moving forward with plans to establish a new dairy processing facility in Giridih district. The Federation has invited bids for Project Management Consultancy (PMC) services to oversee the design, execution, and quality control of the new Medha dairy plant. This initiative marks a significant step in expanding Jharkhand’s dairy infrastructure.
The strategic move is expected to bridge the gap between rural milk production and industrial-scale processing. Industry analysts have emphasized the importance of this tender in professionalizing the regional supply chain. The selected consultant will be responsible for ensuring that the plant meets modern engineering standards and operational efficiencies.
The project is poised to become a crucial hub for the Medha brand, which has a strong presence in the eastern Indian dairy market. By localizing processing power, the Federation aims to reduce logistics costs and minimize milk spoilage, benefiting smallholder farmers who supply the cooperative.
This development comes amid a growing trend of state-led investment in organized dairy sectors to meet the rising demand for processed dairy products. The project highlights the shift towards decentralized processing units that empower local economies while maintaining centralized quality assurance.
The invitation for consultancy bids underscores the complexity of modernizing dairy infrastructure in developing regions. It demands a rigorous selection process focused on firms with a proven track record in food processing and industrial project management. This emphasis is to ensure that the Giridih plant is equipped with the latest technology in pasteurization, packaging, and cold-chain integrity.
